EDITED TO ADD: Just finished D&tDBM–excellent, excellent! Even though the Harlem setting isn’t as vividly-drawn as in Harlem Redux, I was more than delighted to recognize many of the celebrities Walker name-dropped. Lanie Price is a well-rounded protagonist, and I really appreciated the development of her relationship with her editor–it wasn’t cliched or rushed at all. The mystery was very good, and adding poignancy to the story was the melancholy aura of the writing. There is a bit of graphic-esque violence for the squeamish, but it isn’t so much that the book turns into a true crime novel. All in all, a riveting read: B+
